For keeping baby diapers in place to saving us from pricks and pokes, the trusty safety pin has almost as many uses as the paper clip.

THANK YOU to the American mechanic and prolific inventor Walter Hunt. His patent, #6,281 issued by the United States Government Patent office, showed a pin made from one piece of wire, coiled into a spring at one end, with a clasp and point at the other end allowing the point of the wire to be forced by the spring into the clasp.

A portion of proceeds from sales of this item will help fund scholarships to those pursuing an education in Mechanical Engineering.

Form, comfort and yes, fashion. We love the alias, Mary!

THANK YOU to Mary Phelps Jacob, who sold her invention under the name of Caresse Crosby. It was designed to substitute the wearing of heavily structured corsets that had braces of metal between folds of fabric. Her design was the first brassiere to enjoy widespread use, but its popularity did not peak until World War I, when the U.S. government requested that women stop purchasing corsets in order to conserve metal. Whew!

A portion of the proceeds from sales of this shirt style will be donated to fund reconstruction for breast cancer patients
